[eclipse.org-members-committers] Nominations for the Eclipse Community Awards

All,

Nominations are now open for the Eclipse Community Awards. These annual awards recognize key individuals, products and technologies that make Eclipse a vibrant community. The award winners will be announced March 23 at EclipseCon 2009. The deadline for nominations is January 30, 2009.

There are three categories for the individual awards:

  1. Top Ambassador - An individual (committer or non-committer) who best promotes and supports the Eclipse community. Everyone can nominate and vote for this award.
  2. Top Committer - An Eclipse committer who best supports the community through newsgroups, Bugzilla, white papers, conference presentations, blogs and other forums. Everyone can nominate and vote for this award.
  3. Top Contributor - An Eclipse contributor who best helps the community through submission of patches & comments on bugs, posts to newsgroups, creation of white papers, presentations at conferences, blogs, IRC and other forums. Top contributors make their contributions due to their passion for making Eclipse a better community. In general, no one is paying them for the time they spend on making their Eclipse contributions. Everyone can nominate and vote for this award.
  4. Most Prolific Newcomer Evangelist - An individual whom best exemplifies the welcoming of new people into the Eclipse community. This award will be presented to the individual that has answered the most questions raised on the eclipse.newcomer newsgroup.

For products and technologies there are 6 categories:

  1. Best Commercial Eclipse-Based Developer Tool - A commercial product that provides an innovative, high quality product for software developers.
  2. Best Open Source Eclipse-Based Developer Tool - An open source project (not hosted at Eclipse) that provides an innovative, high quality product for software developers.
  3. Best Commercial Equinox Application - A commercial product that demonstrates the most innovative use of Eclipse Equinox.
