As we transition from summer to fall, I am filled with anticipation for the exciting events and developments that lie ahead. The past few months have been a time of remarkable collaboration and preparation, and I am eager to share some key updates with you.

First and foremost, I want to highlight the upcoming Open Community Experience (OCX), which is shaping up to be our most significant event of the year.

First and foremost, I want to highlight the upcoming Open Community Experience (OCX), which is our flagship event of the year. With keynote speakers from around the globe and a diverse range of topics, including developer tooling, cloud native Java, automotive, embedded IoT and edge, AI, security, open technologies, and open source best practices, OCX 2024 will bring together multiple communities to foster learning, and create new collaborations. The event’s new format, featuring collocated events such as Open Community for Automotive (OCA), Open Community for Java (OCJ), and the original EclipseCon, is designed to provide even more value to our attendees. I look forward to seeing many of you there and I’m eager to engage in the vibrant discussions that the event will spark.

Another key initiative I want to draw attention to is the Open Regulatory Compliance Working Group, which was formally launched this month. Our collaboration with other leading open source foundations such as Apache, OpenInfra, OWASP, PHP, Python, and Rust along with European industry heavyweights such as Bosch, Mercedes, Nokia, and Siemens underscores the importance of this initiative.

By collaborating with relevant authorities and standards organisations, the working group aims to formalise industry best practices so they can be properly referenced in legislation and support the authorities in understanding the peculiarities of the open source ecosystem. This ensures that all open source participants can meet regulatory requirements across jurisdictions and improve software quality and security

I'm pleased to report that our membership remains strong, with 381 corporate members and 2,059 committers as of 1 September 2024.

Financially, the Eclipse Foundation remains on solid ground. Our budget for 2024 is on target and supports our ongoing growth and the strategic initiatives that are crucial to our mission.
