Can't Select... or Add... references [message #26939] Mon, 22 January 2007 22:57 Go to next message

I've recently encountered a new problem. The "Add..." and "Select..."
buttons that generate pop-ups to select Method Elements are not working. I
click the button, get visual feedback (button color and brief hourglass) but
no pop-up.

I see this when I try to Select... the "Primary performer" for a Task, or
Add... "Additional performers" (on the Roles tab), or similar operations on
the Work Products tab or even other object types. Same problem whether
trying to add/select Roles, Work Products, Guidance, or Categories.

This was all working early last week, then boom, it stopped! I'm stuck and
cannot do any meaningful authoring until I get this resolved.

I've tried completely removing epf-composer and my workspace and starting
from scratch, with no difference. What's particularly grating about this bug
is that it's totally silent. I get none of the usually helpful feedback that
accompanies other errors I've encountered.

Has anyone seen this/got a solution?

We haven't seen this. I suspect may be something wrong with your method
library. If your error continues even after cleaning workspace etc, I
suggest you enter a bug in bugzilla with as much as details as possible -
which EPF version, steps to reproduce the bug, .log file etc

Can you please copy and paste content of ".log" file located under your
epf workspace (usually, .log file located in <document
settings>/epf/workspace/.metafile/ directory)?. ".log" file will tell us
complete story of whats wrong with library and why filter dialog unable to
open it.

I've recorded this problem as bug 171336 =

It appears my plugin dependencies are screwed up, but I can't figure out =

Looked at bugzilla record, seems like the plugin's reference is causing
circular dependency, usually UI prevents and check circular dependency at
time of reference plugin selection, can you please recollect the steps you
did earlier which landed into circular plugin references.
You might know the steps i want you to try but in case, Open MethodPlugin
editor of the content element (Task) you are editing, and check the plugin
reference, which other words called as base plugins of plugin you are
working in, check the heirarchy if any base plugin causing circular.

There's no doubt now that I created circular references and that caused =

Whatever the cause, the symptoms were catastrophic: The UI was offering =

with a hash rather than a check and I couldn't uncheck them.

My solution? I copied all the content of the base plugin I created into =

Then I had missing reference errors that I chased down to one remaining =
