I already have eclipse installed on my computer, it was installed when
Dialog Designer from Avaya was installed. But now I would like to install
the IDE for Java Developers. I am unable to use the update facility in
Eclipse because of the firewall settings where I work. I can download it
from the download page, so how do I install it.

Jerry,

If your machine at work can at least go through proxy (ask your network
administrator), this guide should help you to configure Eclipse to use
the proxy:

If you have no access to the internet, how do you actually want to
access the resources you want to install?

Installing Eclipse (on Windows at least) is just a matter of unzipping
it and running the eclipse.exe executable. It will prompt you for a
location to create a workspace in, which you might want to change from
the default.
The only other step that is hihgly recommended before running Eclipse is
to tell it specifically what JVM to run in (a JDK, as opposed to a JRE,
is best if you're doing Java development). See this wiki page for the
details: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse.ini

Hope this helps,
Eric
