Using an iMac with all the latest updates installed. When I first install Eclipse, it works fine, it's only the next day when I try to open it, it comes up with a message saying it unexpectedly quit and this just continues to happen so wondered if anyone could help me out? Cheers

In your eclipse directory there should be a log file...l Can you paste the latest entries from it?

What would the name of this file be?

I am also having the identical problem. Repeatedly I get a crash and the application will never open.

Looks like a bug was fixed shortly after the release you're using:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=445122

Perhaps try one of the developer builds:
http://eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php
