Hi,

I tried to download the x86_64 version of the installer by following the link on the wiki. Unfortunately, both MD5 and the SHA{1,512} checksum tools show a mismatch for the downloaded archive. Could you help me find out whether I should look for problems on my machine, or are the checksums posted below out of date?

The download link was the following:
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/oomph/products/org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip

My two download attempts were using these mirrors:

[Bulgaria] Linux For Bulgarians (http)
URL: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/oomph/products/org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip&mirror_id=498

[Italy] RCP Vision (http)
URL: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/oomph/products/org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip&mirror_id=1023

The values and links to the checksums on the download page were:

MD5:
dfb0f15ef526024aa14200a781c9de7a org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip

URL: https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/sums.php?file=/oomph/products/org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip&type=md5

SHA1:

URL: https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/sums.php?file=/oomph/products/org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip&type=sha1

SHA512:
e7d43626d4facf742db07e2af41b0d727aa7b40e21fc665168152714b8c7709d68f4b6c5cc17f38267757a96efefcf0ffca780ec9d89f19ec0ba9c08db711ab1 org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip

URL: https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/sums.php?file=/oomph/products/org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip&type=sha512

Both downloaded files produced the same checksums, but completely different from the above:

MD5:
b08f04ff35280ef4b817ccbaf5873fc5 org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip

SHA512:
fa1eba5b9e8d76b44782929e1be91383dfd04388f6123c9277f55d531353d5afdf624c94c8ed1c6af318f33a9fd7924db0b06d748f81fd9f9c06641e86e8138e org.eclipse.oomph.setup.installer.product-win32.win32.x86_64.zip

(I ran the utilities in text mode with the "-t" option.)

Hi Andras,

To the best of my knowledge we neither create nor oterwise publish any checksums. Where did you get them from?

Cheers
/Eike

Hi Eike,

The first URL in the original post leads to the download mirror selection page, and you can find the links to the checksums below the suggested site's link.

I also found a mailing list thread in which someone is describing a similar issue for another download package: https://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/epp-dev/msg02419.html, with the possible resolution in https://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/epp-dev/msg02422.html.

Regards,
András

The relevant section is highlighted with yellow in this screenshot, taken from the mirror selection page:

index.php/fa/20156/0/

Since my first post, the returned checksums didn't change at all -- according the the mailing list archives linked above, they are stored in a database table and get recomputed when the corresponding values are cleared.

If possible, please look into how they can stay up-to-date with the archives, as they provide a very convenient way of checking the integrity of downloads; I would happily ignore them if they weren't so prominently displayed. Smile

Thanks,
András
