Hi.

I am currently giving a lecture at our university called 'Software Evolution'. Besides other tools we also use Papyrus. When studying the repository we noticed that in March/April 2014 there was a major reduction of the project's size measured by LoC (see attached OpenHUB analysis). Can you please tell me what was the reason for this reduction?

Best regards,
Thorsten

Hi Thorsten,

We have changed the criterias for counting lines of code on OpenHub. The Papyrus SVN repository contained many different things, not all of which were directly related to the official Papyrus product: Developer documents, work-in-progress plug-ins, non-released developer plug-ins/components, etc. When migrating to Git, we have removed (or moved to a specific branch) a lot of things, but some remained in the master repository.

So, we have added some filters to exclude everything which is not a main Papyrus plug-in (i.e. Developer, Extra, Test and Work-in-progress plug-ins have been excluded from the stats).

Moreover, we have refactored our diagram code generator, which resulted in about 25% less generated code in diagrams plug-ins (But that's hardly noticeable compared to the repository filters)

Regards,
Camille
