[XPDL] MetaModel - XPDL comparison document [message #25622] Mon, 09 April 2007 21:25 Go to next message

I am begining to write my document detailing my comparisons between the
AgilPro metamodel, and what can be described with XPDL. My approach is going
to be to identify what is needed to import any arbitrary XPDL into the
metamodel, as I think this is the quickest way of assessing the completeness
of the metamodel.

I am also going to start with XPDL 1.0, with Bonita extensions. XPDL 2.0 is
considerably more complex. The schema is almost 4 times as large and has 142
elements that must be accomodated vs 90 in 1.0. If my document is suficient
for our needs, I can then extend it to cover 2.0. I am including the Bonita
extensions because any implementation is expected to have vendor specific
extensions, we must be sure we can accomodate them, and the Bonita
extensions are the ones I know.

I know that some of you want to see what I am coming up with, and I would
like your feedback as I go as to whether what I am producing is useful.
However, I don't really think I should put my document out on the Wiki until
it is done.

Is there someplace I can post my work in progress, so you can review it?
What format is best?

I am currently composing it in Word 97, although I expect to publish it in
pdf when it is done. I could switch my working copy to Open Office, if that
would be more beneficial.

Hi Steve,

a document like this will be very valuable for the JWT project. So thanks
in advance for your efforts here.

Placing the document on the wiki is not a bad idea. Maybe there are some
more people seeing your document then, but it is a place where all project
members can easily get the latest version of your file. The negative side
is that people don't know when there is a new version of your file
available and tend to forget looking after the files...

The other possibility would be to simply send the newest version always
through the mailing list to the project members. So members always get
notified that there is a new version of the file and your file is only
visible for project members.

So, please simply send the files to jwt-dev@eclipse.org.

Regards,

Florian
