I just downloaded and installed Eclipse.

Can someone point me at a quick start, I want to:
1) Open an existing application
2) Compile it
3) Run it.

A Java application?

Open the Help Contents and then look at some of the Getting Started guides that you'll find there. In particular, the the Workbench User Guide and Java Development User Guide sections.
Another good resource are the tutorials at http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/eclipseide.html
