Null Value issue when using filter in JfaceTable [message #1442380]

I have a table which is being populated from the database however when I am applying filter and there is a NULL value in any one of the column the filter does not work and throws a Null pointer exception on the application when anything is typed in that filter.

Has anyone seen such an issue and resolved it ?

I have made a temporary fix by
setting "" when null is passed from the database however I do not know if this is a good practice and what will the future consequences be
