Hi!
I'm using Debian Wheezy and tried to "install" Eclipse Luna on my PC. So i downloaded the latest version of the Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers and extracted the archive to opt.
I tried to start Eclipse in the terminal, but it doesn't work. At first i get the loading screen and some seconds later Eclipse crashes with an error message in the terminal (can't post it here, because apparently i'm not allowed to post URLs (?), so i attached it as an ODT-file).
It says that it created a log file, so i attached this file.
I have no idea how to solve this problem, can anyone help me?

Eclipse is personal productivity software. Don't treat it as some big
commercial package you install on paths like /opt, /var, /etc, etc.
Install on a path like /home/andi/eclipse.
You should be able to use OpenJDK, but if you want, you can also
download a copy of Sun's JDK from java.sun.com and put it also in a
personal place under your user, then hook it up to Eclipse via eclipse.ini.
This will give you the greatest control over your tools.

No, you just need a JRE to execute Eclipse itself. You don't need the JDK.

Are you running the X window system at the time of the start attempt?
If not, please run startx and try again from a Xterm window.
You could run some of the simple Java graphical programs under your Java installation to ensure that the setup is good.
I'm using Gnome, so this shouldn't be the problem. Other Java programs like JDownloader work just perfect with OpenJDK.
Edit: Even Eclipse Kepler (4.3) works fine.
