Please allow me to create another thread regarding possible events in the
area of Healthcare IT, Medical Science or Bio-Informatics I came across.

This seems to be a Virtual Conference in Orlando, July this year.
I received various calls for participation already, but at least for Eclipse
Babel or my JCP project it seemed to scientific or abstract.
I cannot say if STEM or related fields match, but some may be. Feel free to
participate. We could also discuss this in another call, but I have no
direct contact to this event other than being on their mailing list (from
another conference I suppose)

Subject: Call for Virtual Participation

Announcement: Virtual Participation in WMSCI 2009 is Now Possible
=======================================================
Deadlines for Virtual Participation in The 13th World Multi-Conference on
Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics: WMSCI 2009
(http://www.ICTconfer.org/wmsci) (Orlando, Florida, USA. July 10th-13th,
2009)

Extended Abstracts submissions and Invited Virtual Sessions proposals: May
6th, 2009
Authors notifications: June 1st, 2009
Camera ready, full papers: June 22nd, 2009
=======================================================

Submissions made for Virtual Participation will go trough the same reviewing
processes of the regular papers (double-blind, non-blind, and participative
peer reviewing) and, if accepted (according to the same acceptance policy),
they will be included in the proceedings and will be eligible for journal
publication if they are, according to their reviewers, among the best
10%-20% of those physically and virtually presented at the conference.

Each regular session, included in the conference program, will be associated
to a corresponding virtual session where all final versions of the articles
to be presented will be displayed and authors can comment them via
electronic forums. Registered authors of virtual participations will have
access to all conference program sessions via their respective associated
virtual sessions. Their article will be displayed like the regular ones.
Virtual authors also have the option of sending, besides the final version
of their article in a PDF document, an electronic presentation (PowerPoint,
flash, etc. and/or a 15-20 minutes video).

After paying the respective shipping and handling costs, registered authors
of virtual participation, who paid their registration fee, can get delivered
the same conference material that the regular attendees receive at the
registration desk.

Authors of accepted papers who registered in the conference will have access
to the reviews made to their submission so they can accordingly improve the
final version of their papers. Non-registered authors may not have access to
the reviews of their respective submissions.

Awards will be granted to the best paper of those presented at each session.
From these sessions' best papers, the best 10%-20% of the papers presented
at the conference will be selected for their publication in Volume 7 of JSCI
Journal (http://www.j-sci.com/Journal/SCI/). Libraries of journal authors'
organizations will receive complimentary subscriptions of at least one
volume (6 issues).

Best regards,

WMSCI 2009 Organizing Committee

Although risking to be the only one posting here, I wanted to add 2 more
updates after speaking with Ralph Müller today.

Eclipse Seminar Europe somewhere in Germany I assume will soon be anounced
on Eclipse.org.

If STEM is happy to propose a talk there, even a simple repeat of anything
presented e.g. at EclipseCon (after all this is "EclipseCon" Europe, just by
another name) I would be among those willing to present it. Should US or
other contributors (e.g. from Israel) not be in the position to present...

If other contributors to STEM outside the US are able to come there, I'd be
happy to meet some of you face to face. I'll most likely hold at least the
Babel talk as German Language Champion and European "Ambassador" for Babel.

ESE is fixed now, but Ralph has not confirmed or denied a submission was
necessary for the Oct 27+ event this year in Ludwigsburg.

I'll try to catch up on that with him. Speak to you tomorrow

Epicenter Conference confirmed my STEM presentation for Friday, August 28th
in Dublin:
http://epicenter.ie/

I'd be happy about any updates or material for this
(Microsoft and a leading exec of 1Spatial will also speak there, but I
haven't seen anything from the UK guys mentioned in today's call ;-)

Hi,

EclipseCon session requests have officially started:
http://www.eclipse.org/org/press-release/20091104_eclipsecon cfp.php

I may not officially submit anything (except Elexis maybe, another
healthcare-related RCP tool I just presented in Italy) but if the healthcare
focus was the case, I'd be happy to meet some of you also in person...

Hi,

Just wanted to highlight the AIDS Vienna 2010 Conference and sessions or =
activities STEM could get involved in:

The main conference program has a perfect track for STEM AFIK:
Track C: E pidemiology and Prevention Sciences

Until February 10th submissions are open. At the very least I would want =
to demonstrate here also how to add new diseases to STEM or present the =
idea of multi-disease models(especially Shigella may be a disease beside =
others like Flu that people with HIV are even more exposed and risk =
dying from)

There is a "Late Breaker" session even until April. Don't know, if those =
are accepted in any case or just if space is available?
Beside that Eclipse as a whole or STEM and related institutions might =
present themselves in the Global Village:
http://www.aids2010.org/Default.aspx?pageId=3D164

This seems a bit like a poster session. And while NGOs may primarily be =
considered HIV related only, those institutes working with or on STEM =
could also present themelves there.

More on the conference at:
http://www.aids2010.org/

I am in Vienna so I'd be more than happy to present STEM here if any =
proposal was accepted. The conference includes the famous Life Ball =
where my partner participated twice (on the catwalk) so as she's likely =
to have done the German translation by February, too she might consider =
participating in some way again, too.
