Come here to participate in general discussions pertaining to the
Eclipse Foundation and its communities. Relevant topics include
announcements of interest to the community, membership, process, etc.
And by all means please jump in and help others out by sharing your
expertise and experience - the community only works if everyone
contributes. And as with any newsgroup, keep in mind that the better the
quality of the question, the better the quality of the answers you are
likely to get!

Thanks for the creation of the group.

But there is a practical problem!

I am afraid that the position of the newsgroup in the newsgroups-list must be changed.

http://eclipse.org/newsgroups/index.html

It looks that users go to the first available newsgroup in the list, thus newcomer request come now into the eclipse.foundation group.

Thus:

- change the position of the group (let platform be the first again)
- or: create an "eclipse.foundation.newcomer" group and place it on top of the list, thus newcomer requests are automaticly catched (and foundation and platform groups are happy)!

After monitoring this newsgroup for some days I tend to agree with
ilias. Many users post unrelated posts here.
Maybe the eclipse webmaster could try what Ilias proposed and see if
anything changes.

I think it's a good idea, and I will recommend we implement it.

Thanks,
