crosstab dimension drilldown [message #254122] Sat, 01 September 2007 04:10 Go to next message

Instead of showing all possible dimension levels, is it possible to
drill-down into them.

For example, in the common product line crosstab example what if you
wanted to drill-down into the motorcycle product line and see how the
different motorcycles were doing.

With the Mondrian product you see the cubes with the typical (+) interface
to expand the dimensions, is this possible in BIRT? if not is it planned?

Thanks,
Shayne

Hi Shayne

The drill-down feature hasn't supported yet. I've no idea whether it is
planed. But it is really a good point. If any process and plan will tell
you. Thanks!

Regards!

For now I could create two different report designs and just have a
hyperlink.

Is there a way to use the cube in multiple reports? Most of the work is
done building the cube so it would be a shame to have to recreate the same
cube for multiple reports.

Great news about it being available in 2.3.1

Kindest regards,
Shayne

Of course you can, define your cube in a rptlibrary and publish the
library. Then others reports can use this cube from library.

Best regards!

What I meant was to be able to reuse the same cube that just got populated
full of data from the previous report.

Are you saying it's possible to reuse the cube in other reports once it's
calculated all it's dimensions and measures? Obviously within a
reasonable amount of time without being refreshed.

At design time the cube is simple to build. At runtime complex cubes take
a while to generate.

I also have requirement to re-use the cube (populated with data) in multiple reports. Is there any update on questions posted by Tianli?

Currently re-using populated cubes is not supported.
