Optional DATE Parameter in BIRT [message #1401606]

I have an optional Date parameter in BIRT. When I import the report into MAXIMO the parameter becomes required. Simply unchecking the required field in Report Admin is not an option. If I do that it simply gives me an error.

Does anybody have a solution for this?
