Hi all,

I am working on OS X 10.9.3 with Eclipse Kepler and JDK 8.
when starting Eclipse I'm getting the following message:

System property http.nonProxyHosts has been set to local|*.local|169.254/16|*.169.254/16 by an external source. This value will be overwritten using the values from the preferences

Can anyone help me solve that problem ?

Thanks

ASM.

If you google for that message you'd find a bunch of information. Maybe the most interesting one is http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6651653/install-new-software-on-eclipse-not-working-on-mac
The gist is, check your /Library/Java/Extensions/ folder and make sure it's empty.

The answer to stack overflow question 29606105 worked for me.

Essentially I no longer have a proxy configured in my mac network settings, but I still had some bypass proxy settings. Removing those entries did the trick for me, since I did not need them any more.

Remove values in: System Preference > Network > Advanced... > Proxies > "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains".

After removing those values it resolved the warning in the Eclipse .log.
