Use separate diagram file, or not? [message #235307] Mon, 06 July 2009 09:03 Go to next message

Hello,

I've started using GMF using separate files for the semantic and
notation model, which proved to be useful for re-creating the diagram
files when making changes to the diagram editor. But now that my editor
has somewhat matured, I wonder how useful the separate-files-feature
still is...

So I would like to hear your opinions: Are you using one file for both
semantic and notation model, or separate files, and for what reasons?

Regards,
Tobias

Hello tobias,

Both cases are valid (single file for domain and diagram or two separate).
Each solution has possible drawbacks for some particular use cases. If your
project is nearly finished and you do not see any problems with domain/diagram
info separation then I suggest you to stay with this configuration - it's
always good to keed independent parts (domain info has nothing to do with
diagram) separated.
