Hi
I've been trying to get Eclipse 4.3 Kepler running on my 64-bit Linux Mint 16. I have OpenJDK 7.
java -version
java version "1.7.0_55"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.7) (7u55-2.4.7-1ubuntu1~0.13.10.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode)
Eclipse file
eclipse-standard-kepler-SR2-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz
On startup Eclipse displays the splash screen which after a few seconds goes blank and nothing happens. Eclipse creates .eclipse directory but no workspace.
Contents of .eclipse directory:
org.eclipse.platform_3.8_155965261 org.eclipse.platform_4.3.2_1473617060_linux_gtk_x86_64
I have specified in the eclipse.ini file that it uses openJDK 7.
-vm
/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java
When I use
eclipse -clean -consoleLog -debug
last two lines are
Time to load bundles: 5
Starting application: 5051
After which the splash screen goes blank and stays on indefinitely. When I force quit it with Ctrl-C I get an error message which differs from time to time for example
Eclipse: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
or
[xcb] Unknown sequence number while processing queue
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
[xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
java: ../../src/xcb_io.c:274: poll_for_event: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed.
or sometimes I get no error message at all.
I have tried googling for solutions and using Oracle's JDK 8 instead of OpenJDK but haven't managed to get it working.
