I have done a lot of searching for a solution to this problem but am not
coming up with a workable answer. I set up a static web project in
Eclipse, established a generic HTTP server, and then added this web
project to it. When I created an .html file for the project and try an
publish it to the HTTP server I get the following sort of error -

Could not replace with temp file
/home/marc/eclipse/eclipse3.4/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/o rg.eclipse.wst.server.core/tmp127131591529039096.html.

My searches in the bugzilla data base for Eclipse Webtools leads me to
believe that the developers think that they have solved this or some
related problem, at least with Tomcat servers. But apparently that is not
my experience...

Other searches on the internet say there is a workaround by having
everything installed on the same partition, (the Tomcat installation, temp
directories and the Eclipse workspace) but for me that is impossible in my
development environment, at least not without a major reorganization of
our computer systems!

So is this still a bug and should I (re)submit it, or does someone know of
a fix/workaround that I can use?

For reference, I am using the following versions -

Eclipse Version: 3.4.2
Build id: M20090211-1700

Web Standard Tools
Version: 3.0.4.v200811190840-7A-8l8Qqcz0HyVgjXUE-iuOYZ9ai
Build id: 20080918035538

Tomcat6
Server version: Apache Tomcat/6.0.16
Server built: Aug 21 2008 05:19:22
Server number: 6.0.16.0
OS Name: Linux
OS Version: 2.6.25.20-0.1-default
Architecture: amd64
JVM Version: 1.6.0_0-b14
JVM Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.

Thanks in advance for any help offered... Marc Chamberlin

Hi Marc;

I've commented on your bug (272525) and referenced another old bug you
might have missed (219332). The end result is that the bug I referenced
also fixed this issue and was released to 3.1 streams. I'd suggest you
give it a try and see if it's still happening for you.
