Hi all

I'm new here and I was investigating Bug 218101 - Allow validation of
files outside of projects. I found most of the validation classes are
using IProject. Also, the help context for adding folder or files rule in
validation preference says that "If you select a file or folder that is
outside of the scope of a project, the rule will not be activated."

Is the validator currently only work with projects?

Currently the validation framework only works with resources inside of a
workspace, and so yes, all the resources need to be in projects.

The point of the bugzilla/request is to relax that restriction.
