Install the ohf bridge locally or use the online version ? [message #21650] Wed, 01 November 2006 17:33 Go to next message

Hi,

We've getting an increasing amount of OHF users who would like to use
the bridge for the Connectathon 2007.
http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/IHE_Connectathon_2007

My advice is that at least until the connectathon you should use the
bridge online version located at:
http://ibmod235.dal-ebis.ihost.com:8090/bridge/services/ohf- bridge?wsdl

This is the same version that the OHF IHE Portal is using:
http://ibmod235.dal-ebis.ihost.com:8080/

The reasoning is that we still don't have the binaries available for
download so it might be a bit of a challenge to install the bridge from
scratch.
In addition, we are updating the bridge daily (announcing only grand
updates) with new bug fix and IHE functionality. Using the online
version will relieve you from checking the CVS every day for new versions.

For those who do use the on line version, please send questions through
the newsgroup. For first time users we will be happy to have a short
phone call introduction and we'll make sure you can do at least one
successful transaction before letting you continue by your own.

All,

My company plans on using the online OHF Portal without installing the
Bridge locally for the MESA tests as well as the connectathon. I have
several questions regarding this.

1. Will the OHF Portal be available for use during the connectathon and the
HIMSS Demo. If so, what are the risks in doing so? Is there anything we
have to set up to with IHE to do this (declaring a partnership, alerting IHE
that our system is using the OHF server, etc.)

2. Are there any others that are using the Bridge to test with the MESA
tools? If so how can one set this up?

3. How does the OHF handle affinity domains? Should this automatically come
with using the OHF, or will the client have to manage communicating multiple
domains? Is an affinity domain synonymous with a RHIO?

4. What is the scope of the patient identifier we get after we do a patient
search? Is that the identifier that can be used for that particular
affinity domain?

Thank you,
Corey Spears

Hi Corey,

These are good questions. I'll take a stab at answering some of the
below and get Eishay to fill in the blanks:

1. Yes, the OHF Bridge (I think this is what you mean) will be coming to
connectathon as will Eishay and I and other members of the OHF team. We
plan on running a local instance of the Bridge at Connectathon for all
Connectathon participants using OHF in this manner (ie. those not doing
a local install of the OHF Bridge)

2. Yes there are others doing testing this way. Once you set up your
Mesa PC for testing, let us know the IP and we will set up an "Affinity
Domain" just for you to do your testing against. You will send your test
input via your application to the bridge with a session context that
includes the "Affinity Domain" that we set up for you that targets your
Mesa PC. The bridge will do the additional processing needed for the
transaction and then hit your PC. This is how we envision doing this ...
there may be a few details that we will have to work out.

Also, the MESA PC is only used for some of the tests. Tests for the XDS
Document Source and Document Consumer do not use the Mesa PC, rather hit
a real test XDS Registry and Repository provided by NIST.

3. I believe the Bridge handles the affinity domain configuration. Since
you will not be locally installing the Bridge, you will need to
communicate your domain needs to us. The Bridge currently handles
multiple affinity domain configurations and yest RHIO and affinity
domain are terms that are often used interchangably.

4. The scope of the identifier depends on your query. The affinity
domain used for Connectathon 2007 will have the following OID:
1.3.6.1.4.1.21367.2005.3.7. Look for this one.

Eishay ... have any clarifications to add?

One thing to add is security concerns.
The current bridge installation does not use security, but soon we will
add it.
This mean that the bridge and client will have to exchange certificates
(public keys) in order to talk.
For testings we will keep unsecured ports open, but at the connectathon
and in real life deployment the communication with the bridge will use
mutual TLS.
