Hi,

I don't know whether this is the right place to ask, but I couldn't find any
other appropriate group.

What ever happened to the Stellation subproject. I think it must be more
than a year since I last read about any updates. Today I noticed in my news
reader that the stellation newsgroup had been yanked. Checking the project
homepage I found that it had also been yanked offline!

I just think that it's very strange that a project like this just silently
disappears. Does anybody know more? Is there an official statement
somewhere?

TIA,

Eclipse projects have a lifecycle: they are created, they are active,
and they mature. Projects can end in a number of ways including:

* Becoming incorporated as fundamental technology (e.g., the OSGi
run-time project that became the core loader for Eclipse)
* Reaching their natural research conclusion, i.e., the appropriate
ideas have been investigated, tested, and documented.
* Sponsors/committers being reassigned to other tasks.

Stellation (and three other projects) have reached a natural end and
have been archived:

A project that has produced no news in over a year is obviously at, or
near, the natural end of its lifecycle. Stellation (and other other
projects) are good projects, and we're pleased that that research could
be done with the Eclipse platform and frameworks. We look forward to
many more such projects in the future.

This is a fine place to ask. Because Stellation is a Technology PMC
project, another good place to ask is the eclipse.foundation newsgroup.
