Hi all,
Has anyone any experience using the Abbot framework for testing UI
components? Does anyone has any info regarding the Abbot GEF patch and how
comprehensive is it?
My application is an Eclipse RCP based application using SWT and GEF. It has
an editor area and a palette both of which are GEF components. I want to
write test cases for testing them. But currently the support for GEF by is
very minimal.
Any pointers in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Gaurav S

Hi Gaurav,
A colleague of mine has ones written such tests for a GEF based editor
writen by me.
Generally I was drawing some lines and he was testing whether this lines
are at the correct position and have the right color. The tests also
include clicking with the right button, opening a pop-up menu, choosing
from the menu,
opening a SWT dialog, changing the values in this dialog, and then again
testing the lines for the right color and position. Generaly this were the
tests...
So I know it is possible to use Abbot to test GEF editors.
This was about an year ago, so I don`t quite remember the details and I
will have to wait for my colleague to return...
It would be greate if you could ask a more detailed question so that it is
easier for us to help you.
In other way I will try to provide you with some basic guidelines after a
week or two...
