Does anyone know whether Eclipse 3.x will run with Java 8?

I would like to use the new features of Java 8 in my own code when it comes out, but I would also like to use a 3.x version of the target platform until at least this bug is fixed which probably won't happen until June 2015...

I just tried and my client application seems to compile and run fine on Java 8.

(I do have an issue with Bundle-Nativecode but this could be a combination of Java 8 and Windows 8... And unfortunately my server application cannot support it due to OpenJPA not being ready yet.)
