Does EGit support the double asterisk in .gitignore files [message #1240191]

I'm trying to use the double asterisks as explained in the git-scm.com gitignore page, but it seems like EGit does pick it up and I see all kinds of files that are untracked. When I do a status sub-command from a shell I don't see the files.

Is this a planed feature if not currently supported?
