Oldie but goodie: Can't download Android Dev Kit [message #1234744] |

I've got Kepler SR1 installed on OS X (Mavericks) with JDK 1.7.
When I try and download the ADK I get the wonderful connection refused message for dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse.
This is at home so there is no proxy in the way. I've tried adding the option in eclipse.ini for PreferIPv4 and that did not change anything.
Before attempting to download it from the Android developers site directly and then install it manually, what else can I try?
I thought it might be a JDK issue 6 vs 7, but other things I've seen say that JDK 7 works fine. Unless this is a download-only issue, but I don't want to have to bounce back and forth between 2 JDKs to get downloads/updates.
All help appreciated.
Thanks.
