Arrange two report items side by side HTML vs. PDF [message #200970] Wed, 15 November 2006 14:45 Go to next message

Hello,

I have some problems arranging two report items side by side (with no space
between them).

Let's say we have 2 labels (simplified example; actually I want to do this
with any report item, for example a label and an image ...):
1. label "please don't wrap this text"
2. label "right beside the first label"

To arrange them side by side I put the labels in a grid (2 columns, 1 row).
By default the 2 columns are distributed evenly at the page's width. That
means there is a huge space between the 2 labels (HTML and PDF output).
There is an option for the grid saying "Can shrink", but it doesn't work as
long as the width of the table is at 100%. Removing the 100% value, the HTML
output looks like expected. Unfortunatelly the PDF output still looks like
before.

I can't use fixed values for the column width's because the text of the 1.
label will be dynamic and shall not be wrapped.

Any ideas how I can do this?

Thanks in advance,
Christian

I don't know if this will help, but can you create a grid with 2 cols 1 row
and
set the first grid cell (not the label) text alignment to "Right"?

Hello Jason,

unfortunatelly this doesn't help. I think the problem is that the PDF output
doesn't shrink the table's width. For now I put up with it. But perhaps
there are other ideas?

Thanks,
Christian
