Is GMF alive? Where is the documentation? [message #1222615]

I'm trying to learn the ins and outs of GMF over the holidays. However, the GMF project website has a bunch of broken links and empty pages. Is GMF dying? Is there something in the Eclipse world to replace it?

If GMF is going strong, can someone give me a link to the official documentation for GMF?

When I visit the project page: http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/gmp/?project=gmf-runtime

And click on the "Online Documentation" link on the right side, it takes me to the eclipse documentation page. When I select 3.7 (which is what I am using) or any of the 4.x options, there is no "GMF Guide" in the Contents on the left.

I think you are right that some links there are wrong, but you can start with:

Hi,

you are right documentation is not optimal yet. GMF, however, is far away from being dead. You could take a look in bugzilla to see what is planned for the next release:
380983, 417987, 161575, 417982, 417992, 417995, 417997, 417980, 417985, 417991, 418002, 418006, 418007.

Hello Ralph,

I am using the GMF and noticed that the generation creates stuff for e3.
Will there be support for e4?

I am not expert in java and eclipse Sad

can any one help me ? I need to build a project GMF from my ecore model (EMF) and I hope to have in palette a node wich Contains a figure of a person (actor) and an ellipse for the use case and i hope to have in links include and the other connection .

Have you looked at Sirius (http://www.eclipse.org/sirius)? It uses the
GMF Runtime underneath, but can be configured to create your own
diagrams with no Java programming (at least in simple cases).

If you want to give it a try, don't hesitate to ask questions on
Sirius's own forum (http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/f/262/).
