Hi,

I evaluating if Modisco is a good tool to deal with my project. I need
to do some checks to a set of Java projects . There are a lot of them
(around 500), and although they are small projects, it is not feasible
to import these projects manually into a running Eclipse environment to
check them.

I was thinking in creating a batch process to do the checking and
generating a report (initially a .txt file) with the results.

My question is: Can I run the Modisco java discoverer from the command
line, without running an Eclipse instance?

Regards,
Toñi Reina

Hi,

I encourage you to take a look to the Generic Discoverer Benchmark that is available from the MoDisco source code repository (cf. org.eclipse.modisco.infra.discovery.benchmark.*** plugins).
This should help you to elaborate on your own benchmark.

Thanks,

I'll take a look, and tell you if I can use it.

In order to run Modisco programatically and from command line, you must create a headless Plugin Project, which is a "lightweight" eclipse instance that can be run without UI.
