Are you able to open the server editor for that tomcat server..? have you
tried creating a new server? maybe grab the last few lines from the
workspace/.metadata/.log and copy them in here so we can further diagnose
the problem.

hmm that doesn't say much.. I just noticed that you are using WTP 1.0.3
a pretty old version. WTP 2.0 released recently so you might want to
upgrade to that.
I don't have much background in WTP 1.0.3. I know there was a problem
recently reported in 2.0 or 3.0 about not able to start the server on
Linux, i wonder if that is somewhat related? but that was reported in
Tomcat 5.5, wich is not included in WTP 1.0.3.

The typical 8005 comes from the "port" attribute of the <Server> element
in the server.xml found under the Servers project in your workspace. It
might be helpful to create a new "test" Tomcat install using the binary
zip distribution. Create a new runtime and server from that install and
see if you get normal behavior. If so, that could provide an
installation to compare with your current one to see what might be
different. Also, if you can attach a copy of the server.xml from your
Servers project, I'll take a quick look to see if I notice anything odd.
