First of all thanks for the great plugin to Eclipse. This is awesome. I
have been waiting for something like this. I use Linux and was using
FuseSSH to do my remote work.

My Question.

When i try and create a new project for RSE i am having problems.
Here are my steps.
My RSE connection is setup using sftp and if i am in the Remote System
Perspective i can view files on the remote system and work with them.

1. Create new project. I select PHP Project click next.
2. add my prject name and de-select the "Use default location" button and
pick RSE
3. click the browse button. When i do this even if my connection is the
remote box i don't get the remote tree view. I select a different
connection and then back to the connection that i want. I will then get
the remote system tree view.
4. Select the directory that i want to base my project off of. Click ok
5. Then i will see rse://my.server.tld/my/remote/path. click finish...
nothing happens. I don't get an error, or any prompt and the new project
is not created. Is there something that i am doing wrong? Do i need a
dstore for this? I am not the admin of the remote system and do not have
root access. So i can not put the dstore software on that machine.

My setup.
Fedora Core 5
Linux 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5smp
Eclipse Version: 3.2.1
Build id: M20060921-0945

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

RSE Core 1.0.0.v20060928------AXrVWXfeYa
RSE Dstore Connector Service 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE Dstore Core 1.0.0.v20061006

RSE Dstore Platform Support 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE Dstore Services 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE Dstore Shells 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE Dstore SSL Support 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE EFS Support 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE Files Core 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE Files UI 1.0.0.v20061006
RSE FTP Files 1.0.0.v20061008
RSE FTP Services 1.0.0.v20061007
RSE SSH Connector Service 1.0.0.v20060921

I have many more than these, if you need an full list, or if i need to
have a specific plugin install please let me know.

Again thanks for the great plugin. It is something that has helped me get
eclipse on more desktops here at the shop.

Hello Edward,

thanks a lot for your report. What you describe, sounds like 2 distinct
bugs:

1. [efs] new project browse location dialog appears on 2nd try only
2. [efs] cannot create remote php project from new project dialog

Could you make bugzilla entries for these two bugs, including the
description and configuration info you gave? - This will help the
component owner of the EFS integration understand and fix the
problems.

With respect to the dstore, you are able to run this even if you
are not root on the remote machine. Just extract the dstore server
into a directory below your home directory. Then, you can either
execute the dstore server through the RExec server launcher, or
you launch the server manually and connect to the running server.
The latter works even through an SSH tunnel.

For details, see the docs you installed with the RSE, or at
http://dsdp.eclipse.org/help/latest/index.jsp?topic=/org.ecl ipse.rse.doc.user/tasks/tbeginlinux.html

section "To start the server manually", or "SSL and firewalls".

If you find the docs unclear, please also file a bug.

Thanks,
Martin
