When I right-click on a .wsdl file and choose "Test with WebService
Explorer" after a few seconds I get a page labeled "Error report"
telling me:

-----------
HTTP Status 500 -
type Exception report
message
description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented
it from fulfilling this request.
-----------

There is no error in the .log and no other indication what's going
wrong. This is before I get the expected local page listing the actions
etc., i.e. this must be local when constructing or deploying the client.
I know for sure that the webservice itself is working, since I can
access it using another client.

Any idea, what could cause this or how to obtain more info, what's going
wrong here and why the testing client fails to start?

Michael

This is with wtp-sdk-S-2.0M4-200701050358

Hi Michael,

There were some problems with the web services explorer a couple weeks
ago and bug 174352 was opened for this issue. This issue seems to have
been resolved and the web services explorer works for me in M5, so you
might want to try upgrading to M5.

The web services explorer is a web application running on a server. The
catalina log located at:
your_workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.tomcat/catalin a*.log
should provide some information about any server errors.

If you are running into the same problem on wtp M5 then please reopen
bug 174352, and attach your catalina log.

Indeed - migrating to 2.0M5 fixed this issue. Thanks!
