TextArea "missing" from Jface and Swt [message #1187046]

I have come across a stickler of a problem.

In the swing environment there is a function that is available TextArea in the AWT Components. However this is not present in either the JFace or the Swing environment.

has anybody come across a solution? Would I have to make my own Interface as a work around?

I'm not sure what you are asking?

What do you mean by a "TextArea function"?

Are you referring to the TextArea widget? That is an AWT component available in Swing Designer. In general, you should avoid using AWT widgets and use their Swing counterparts instead.
