How to deploy in tomcat webapps dir [message #186637] Sun, 21 January 2007 18:00 Go to next message

Hi to everyone,

I am trying to change the deploy directory to the tomcat webapps
directory, but I wasn't able to do that.
The problem is, that eclipse wtp deploy always internally in
..metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.wst.server.core/

is there a way to change that?

Thanks for any helpful answer.

Hello
all you need to do is "export your web application as a .war file to the
tomcat webapps dir

cheers

hi hicham,

ok, this is something I know, but I would like to use the integrated
deploy tools of wtp, where you can publish, etc... via button click.
To create a jar every time is not so confortable.

Probably there should be another way. I was used it from myeclipse to
have such a deploy tool, and it's really useful, mainly when you
republish a lot.

Now I was able to solve that problem.
By doubleclicking on the server you can edit that configuration. There
you need only to disable the option "Run modules directly from the
workspace" and than my webapplications where deployed to the
tomcat-webapps directory.

In the works for the Tomcat support in WTP 2.0 is the ability to specify
the deployment directory where web applications are published, relative
to catalina.base or absolute, and the ability to specify the
catalina.base. To track these changes, you can follow bugs [1] and [2],
respectively. As you mentioned in a different e-mail, the only thing
that has any impact at the moment is the "Run modules directly..." option.

Cheers,
Larry
