Hi all,

can anybody tell me whether WTP (or WTP + some additional plugins) is
ready for use in project based on Java EE 5 (EJB 3.0, JAX-WS 2.0),
Glassfish and Portlets?

Thank you

Peter,

Basic Java EE 5 support will be available in WTP 2.0 which will be
released this summer. I know it will support EJB 3.0, but I do not know
for sure regarding JAX-WS 2.0. I also do not know whether there will be
any support for Glassfish or Portlets.

Hope this helps.

Well, does it mean that there is no support in eclipse for Java EE 5?
(except comercial plugins)

That's correct. Eclipse does support Java SE 5, but support for Java EE
5 is not there yet.

That's really sad for my project...

But according to this I have one more question.
One can see almost everywhere the war between Eclipse and Netbeans. I
really like Eclipse. I have been using it for my JavaSE development and
WebApp developmnent but now I consider every confrontation based on
arguments like better editor, speed, etc. really funny when one is not
able to use eclipse for EE development.
I know there's such tools like IBM RAD but Netbeans offers EE 5 support
for free.

So my question is: are those comparisons written by JavaSE developers or
EE developers who compares Eclipse with commercial plugins with free
Netbeans?
From my point of view, it's now uncomparable, when I'm forced to switch to
Netbeans, at least until WTP 2.0 is finished.

Thank you

It is true that you cannot compare the two when it comes to Java EE 5
development. If I had to guess, the comparisons are made based on Java
EE 4 development.
