eclipse 3.3 and WTP [message #182421] Thu, 09 November 2006 23:06 Go to next message

I would like to use the enhanced refactoring history capabilities from
eclipse 3.3. I would like to use this on a WTP eclipse project.

How should I install WTP on eclipse 3.3?

The manual approach of copying features/plugins does not work, nor does
it work through the update manager.

Kevin,

There is currently no released version of WTP that will work with
Eclipse 3.3. However, you can try the latest build of WTP 2.0 which is
in development right now. You can download it from...

http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/

Hello there,

Apparently there is a release 2.0M3 according to download page
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R2.0/S- 2.0M3-200611170109/

but it does not seem to work, it requires eclipse.platform 3.2.0 or
equivalent.

Any ideas?

The build that you referenced works with Eclipse 3.3M3. You can find the
link to the correct eclipse platform download on the build page. Look
for the "Requirements" section.

It "Requirements" section says it requires eclipse 3.3. I am trying to
install it with configuration pasted below.
Requirements installed are
# The EMF driver used in this build is emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-2.3.0M3.zip
# The GEF driver used in this build is GEF-SDK-3.2.1.zip
# Java EMF Model Runtime driver used in this build is JEM-SDK-1.2.1.zip
# Data Tools Platform (DTP) driver used in this build is dtp-sdk_1.0M3.zip

When I installed WTP it was disabled and when I tried to enable it I got
following errors:

Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the
current configuration. See details for more information.

Did you install (unzip) to a new location, or over a prior installation?

This is exactly the reason why I've been asking for an update site for
new WTP builds.

Eugene

I installed it on a new location (the 3.3M3 and it does not work.
However, I installed a M3 that seems to be a little newer from the one I
originally got (some days of difference in the build name).
Does wtp2.0M3 verify dependencies in a way that could cause two different
behaviors against two builds of the same version ?

I got the same problem as Eugene (dependency issues message after trying
to enable the wtp feature).

In fact, when I install wtp for the first time, it seems to work, but
there is no trace of the wtp in the menus, actions, and so on.
The feature seems to have no problem, but when I disable it and try to
re-enable it, it shows some dependency errors.

I experience the same problem wit WTP 2.0.
Clean (only that bundles which are required by WTP) installation of WTP
looks OK, no problem is reported, but there is almost no functionality of
the bundle (no labels in Preferences, no editors etc.).
Tried disable-enable, it does not work, no warnings, no errors... and no
functions :(

Any suggestions?
Thanks.
