We're seeing some major performance issues with WTP and WebSphere 6.0.
The same application that takes 3 minutes to initially publish to Jboss
or OC4J in Eclipse is taking 12+ minutes on Websphere. We were
previously using WebSphere within the Rational Application Devloper IDE
and publishing took nowhere near this long. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi Shelley,

The WebSphere server adapters in Rational Application Developer and
WebSphere Application Server Toolkit are commercial offerings that provide
tighter integration and have been optimized to reduce file copying and
improve performance. The three server adapters you refer to in WTP all use
file copying and command line interfaces to publish applications, so while
we can cover more types of servers in WTP it is unlikely that you would get
similar performance.

That said, you should be getting similar performance from these three server
adapters. This probably indicates that the WebSphere adapter in WTP is not
using the correct/best interfaces to the server, or simply has a performance
bug. Please open a bug so that the developer of this code can take a look.

In speaking with IBM representatives for our company, I have been told that the
WebSphere/WTP performance/integration issues [1] and WAS 6.1 support [2] are
currently being addressed and should be contributed back to WTP with the release
of RAD 7. These bugs are still in NEW status. Is there any work being done on
these bugs? What is the expected target milestone?
