I am not able to preview the birt reports in eclipse after I upgraded my computer to win 8.1 from win 8. Layout view works fine, but when I preview the report in Eclipse (preview tab) nothing happens (blank page).

The Preview tab doesn't work, but when I chose 'View report as HTML' then the report is correctly displayed in a web browser.

When I use a parameter in the report, then I can't pick a value after I press the preview tab in Eclipse.

I'm having the same problems on both Birt versions that I use - Birt 3.7 as well on Birt 4.2

I too have the same issue. When using a parameter there is no way to preview the report.

Hallo,

we are having the same problems on windows 7 since a windows-update from 2 weeks ago. At the moment we think that it is the update to internet explorer 11.

We are investigating that issue and I will report.

We now found out that deinstalling IE11 fixes the issue.

In Windows 7 we did the following (german installation, your menues may be named different):

1. Show installed updates via
"Systemsteuerung -> Programme und Funktionen -> Installierte Updates Anzeigen"

2. Find IE11 and deinstall (Our update came between 13th and 27th of November)

3. Reboot

4. Configure Windows to not install again via:
"Systemsteuerung -> Sicherheit -> Updates"
search for updates, find the IE11, right click and choose in optional updates
"Update des IE11 ausblenden".

Can you elaborate more on what you mean by deinstall? Windows 8 does not allow you to uninstall IE11. It only allows for deactivation. I tried that and it made no difference. Can you give more detailed steps as to how you resolved this on Windows 8?

I think you should try to change the default browser of the designer to Chrome or something else, to check if the problem belongs to the IE11.

On Win8.1 i can't find the update i deinstalled at my Win7 computer, sorry.

can you please explain how to change default browser for BIRT?
Where is that setting?

Worked for me too after uninstalling IE11 Wink Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
