Hello,
I just tried to install the I20050331 integration build under eclipse
3.1M5a and 3.1M6, SuSE Linux 9.2 w/ GTK2, and found these issues:
- in M5, I had to install the cairo libraries onto my system because
otherwise opening any graphical editor would throw an error stating that
libcairo.so.1 was not found
- in M6. a similar error appeared, only that it referred to the SWT
cairo binding libraries, which should have been part of the eclipse
distro (which they were in M5, but not in M6).
- in M5, after installing the cairo libraries, all painting behavior
became very slow and ugly. for example, the dnd feedback frame was now
black, and other strange phenomena.
thanks,
christian

All are known problems and are being dealt with. GEF will most likely not
use any of the advanced functionality that would require Cairo on Linux. We
will, however, expose the new SWT API.
Just use the code from CVS meanwhile if you need this fixed.

If the cairo SWT binding is missing from M6, you need to open a bugzilla
against SWT and mark it as critical.
