I have created the following diagram to document my high-level understanding of the Eclipse Scout platform:

In my opinion, this is a nice overview.

Instead of "Export Scout Application" <<process>>, you can also build with maven (or PDE -> legacy). This build step is not different from any Eclipse RCP build.
