Hi Bob,

It seems that we've lost the ability to assign the associationDirection for associations on the latest release.

I used to set it in the property tab of an association (none, one or both).

Do you confirm? Or am I too tired to see it? Smile

Hmm, I'm not seeing that. What is the build number you are using?

I was using 0.2.6.201307252208. Just updated to 0.2.6.201308062246 with no luck. Still can't see where I can change the association direction. The association properties sheet has two tabs: "Description" and "Risk/Mitigation Association". On the first I got a documentation field and in the second got a checkbox "Affects task".

Ah, now I get it! You have your project configured for one of the sample Target Runtimes which does not allow configuration of the Association Direction Smile

Right-click on the workspace project, then select "Properties" and configure the BPMN2 Target Runtime for "None". That should do it.

Yep that did it. Thanks!

Still wondering tough how this changed by itself (I wasn't even aware of this setting). I used to be able to access this property and all of a sudden it disappeared (most probably after an upgrade).

Hmm, I'm pretty sure this didn't just change by itself Wink

I can't seem to find in the BPMN specs the section talking about target runtimes and the disallowing of specific unsupported elements. could you please point me to it if it is there? Or is it something you guys invented?

This is just for my information, I may end up needing it in my project.

Thanks!

A "Target Runtime" is meant to encapsulate model extensions and provide custom rendering (Property Sheets, graphical shapes, etc.) for a specific BPMN2 execution engine. The jBPM runtime is an example of this. There are also two examples provided in the source code, although these are purely fictitious and serve only as mules to demonstrate various features of the editor's extension API.

The original editor project's mandate was that it be able to handle "generic BPMN 2.0" (whatever THAT is Wink ) and that it be extensible and flexible enough (by way of plug-ins) to handle ANY BPMN 2.0 model subset and/or extensions. That's why we have this concept of a "Target Runtime".

HTH,
Bob

FYI: A plugin developer guide as well as a user guide are in the works - this should help.

Yes that will definitely help, great idea!! I am looking forward. Do you have an ETA?

If you need people to proof read and to test run the tutorials in the manual, you can count me in!
