This Open Source Medical Research Project
http://opensourcemalaria.org/
aims at collaborative, Open and Transparent research for Malaria drugs.

Similar to Open Source Software or Hardware, it plans to make all its
findings and possible drug formulas openly available, allowing cheap and
royalty-free access and usage.
Especially for countries affected most by Malaria this sounds like a good
idea lowering the cost often simply due to expensive patents and license
fees for pharmaceutical products.

An Open Source tool like STEM could help such a group and effort, e.g. by
testing how effective a certain drug would be and making all tests and
simulations equally available via Open Source.

Team members are scattered around the world. Most of them in Switzerland
and Australia, hence those involved with STEM either in Central Europe (BfR
or myself) or Australia (Matt soon;-) could try to get in touch with them.

Cheers,
Werner
