Hello,

I would like to know how to migrate birt plugin version 2.6.1 to 4.2.2

Currently, I am able to create this latest version in my eclipse plugins and make a valid test. But I don't know how to generate the plugin for version 4.2.2 Birt Designer. In fact, I generate jar does not allow me to see the specific datasource that I created.

Regards

Some details:

I followed this tutorial: www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/ba-birtextpoints/
that works very well. Now I want to use this plugin in a Birt Designer I download. How should I do?

Regards

You should be able to drop the plug-in into your dropins folder in the BIRT download.

Thanks for your answer.

But what do you mean when you say into your dropins folder ?

In Birt, I have a plugin folder but if I drop my jar file (my plugin) into this folder and after a restart of designer, my ODA didn't appear when I create a DataSource.

Thanks

The plugins folder should work too, but there should be a dropins folder there, too. I have one in my 4.2.2 install.

For your ODA, do you have a designer/UI plugin and a runtime plugin created?

Yes, we have both plugin for designer and runtime.

I install birt in : birt-rcp-report-designer-4_2_2
and there is this folders : configuration, p2, plugins, and workspace.

I haven't dropins folder.

Ah You're using the RCP. I didn't notice that before if you mentioned it. Like I said before, the plugins folder will work, too. Can you send me your plug-ins? If you cannot post them in here, you can email them to me. mwilliams at actuate dot com

Sorry for the delay in response. I was out of town at a conference this week and had other urgent items to handle last week. I'm doing my best to get caught up, now. It shouldn't be any later than Monday before I get a look at it. Hope you had a good vacation!

I'm seeing the same as you. It's likely just from some sort of change in the newer version. Do you have all the code for the plug-in still, so you can try rebuilding and testing it with 4.2?

Hello

I'm the author of this plugin.
I used Eclipse Juno 4.2 with BIRT plugin 4.2

For testing my plugin, i launch a RCP application from Eclipse (from overview tab of designer plugin.xml).
From there when I create a data source for my report I see my data source.

Then I used the Export Wizard to generate the jar., I copy it in the plugins directory of BIRT Designer. When I launch it and create a report, I do not see my data source.

Tank you for your help.

Regards.
