This bug is old, but I care deeply about it:

It is marked as "VERIFIED FIXED".

What is it about? Many Microsoft Windows apps that need to access Internet sites (via FTP or HTTP), have a proxy settings to use system defaults.

I found some source code in the Cygwin setup.exe that can do it.

1) This bug is marked as VERIFIED FIXED, but I cannot see it in my Eclipse. That is confusing. Fixed, or just closed and not-fixed?
2) If not actually fixed, how do we get this project started again? No problem, I can help.

It has been fixed and is part of Eclipse. You can check on what is picked up for the proxy settings on the Windows->Preferences->General->Network Connections page. If you select Native as the Active Provider, it shows the proxy settings for your system.
