When I unpack the .zip file with the macos "Archive Utility"
the orion executable is damaged. When I use the commandline
unzip command then it succeeds. I think that the command
line zip extracts the resourc forge correctly. I wonder
if this is a bug or if my mac has a problem....

I found a solution:

If I set "Allow Applications Downloaded form: Anywhere"
in "System Preferences"-->"Security & Privacy"-->General,
I can start the server...

Ah yes, this is a standard Mac "feature". The same thing happens with the Eclipse platform, SDK, etc. Mac tries to protect you from using apps that don't come from their app store by claiming they are damaged.
