My eclipse Juno installation freezes periodically and to the point that it really messes with my day... I'm running Windows 64 bit with the 64 bit version of Eclipse Juno (though this also happened with Helios and Indigo), Java 7.0.10.10.

It can be triggered in different ways, but I can always get it to happen if I open a file in my Java project, and then switch to another non-java project and open another file (both projects are backed by git).

At that point Eclipse is non-responsive and I need to kill Java from the task manager. BTW, this happened with previous eclipse versions including Helios and Indigo.

My .ini file is standard:

-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.3.0.v20120522-1813.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_64_1.1.200.v20120522-1813
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.java.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
256M
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Dhelp.lucene.tokenizer=standard
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m

Thanks for any help or suggestions

I had the same problem.
The solution that I found was to remove completely the Juno version and install the kepler version.
It resolved the problem for me. (Touch wood)

I installed Kepler and it seems to have solved the problem-- I have not seen it freeze yet, but I've only been playing around for an hour or so.

But I think I owe you a beer... Thanks!
