The original text of this thread (before I updated it) was a question on how to set up a custom Lexer in Xtext.

Since I asked the question, I've figured it out for myself and since I can't seem to delete this thread, I'll link to the solution (thanks to the cloudsmith/geppetto github for helping me figure out the process).
