Hi

i am trying to add "duration constraint" to specify a communication delay constraint on a message?
As i know that a Duration constraints apply on interval between two events .
first of all,i should specify the two events?
the first event is (Message send) on the lifelineA and
the second event is (MessageRecv)on the lifelineB.

So i drag from the first event to the second one but duration constraint still not appear ?why?

PS: it is work when drag and drop two events on the same lifeline .

How can i solve this problem?

Regards

Nope, just a "me too", sorry.

I really would like to specify a duration constraint between a Message
Receive Event (the request) and a Message Send event ( the response).

TIA

Joost

Hi Ann,

I seem to notice that if:

1. the end of a send message and the top of an InteractionCompartiment
are "the same",
2. the start of a reply message and the bottom of an
InteractionCompartiment are "the same",

and

3. one tries to connect the send message end and the
InteractionCompartiment bottom

the duration constraint does not appear. However if I manage to connect
either both the message send and message reply (which has a great luck
factor because of a lack of drag and drop skills) or the top/bottom of
the InteractionCompartiment (which is rather easy to do with drag and
drop) the duration constraint appears.

In my case I managed to first create the constraint by dragging and
dropping the InteractionCompartiment and then reconnect the constraint
to my messages by using the property editors.

Thank you Joost ,

Could you please clarify these steps a bit ?
because until now the problem not solved

Attached is an example project with a Duration Constraint.

I created the constraint by (it may not be the best way to do it, but at
least this worked):
1. Select the Duration Constraint in the palette
2. Move the mouse over the sequence diagram to the top of the
InteractionCompartiment until the mouse cursor changes from a cross to
some undefined figure and an open circle appears.
3.Click and drag the mouse to the end of the InteractionCompartiment and
release the mous in the appearing open circle.
4. This should create a Duration Constraint for the InteractionCompartiment.
5. Change the constraint elements through the properties editor if needed.

Hope this helps
