Hudson migration to 3.0: What is the admin user/pass at initial setup? [message #1016780] Thu, 07 March 2013 16:47 Go to next message

I am attempting to migrate from 2.2.0 to 3.0.0. I am using the debian install that uses jetty.
I am using Crowd2 as security, user level.
When I upgrade, I am first brought to the Hudson CI Server Initial Setup page. It asks me to log in.
Perhaps I am missing something completely obvious, but what credentials am I supposed to use? The crowd ones do not work. Is this setup up in jetty?

The reason could be because the crowd plugin may not be loaded by Hudson at the point of initial setup. There is a quick work around. Disable the security by modifying the hudson-security.xml file in the Hudson home folder, until the initial setup is done and then re-enable the security.

I tried this a number of different ways, to no avail.

* I went back to hudson 2, and disabled security, the installed 3, same thing.
* I did the same, but instead used local DB security and created an admin user. Same thing
* I edited config.xml, and set useSecurity fo false. Still requires a login.

I have found a few threads regarding this when runnign on tomcat, and having to set up a user in the tomcat-users file. Do i need to do something similar in jetty?

I have also tried setting the --argumentsRealm.passwd.admin --argumentsRealm.admin args. Does not seem to use that either

Solved: renamed hudson-security.xml. This information used to be in config.xml, or at least looks like it was. It could not handle the crowd configuration.

when Hudson 3.0 starts, it extracts the security info from config.xml and place it at hudson-security.xml. Hope once the initial setup is done, you renamed it back to hudson-security.xml to get the security back on when Hudson starts normally.

Thanks for the info. I renamed it back, but it doesn't seem to take effect after restart, it's still anonymous.

Also, see my related post:

I am now unable to configure security via the GUI.
