Hi,
I don't think we have a special description for linux.
If you have already a running Eclipse installation, then you can just install the MAT bundles into if from the update site (listed on the downloads page).
For a standalone standalone MAT, you just download one of the zips unzip it.
If you want to use the GUI you should and have an x-server running somewhere and export the display accordingly, but this is nothing MAT specific. Then you can start <mat_install_dir>/mat/MemoryAnalyzer.

Otherwise (without GUI) you can only use the ParseHeapdump script, to get a heap dump parsed, and eventually a report execuced.

Does this help?

After you installed MAT, you should be able to find the MAT documentation under Help.
We have some further info in Wiki, like:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/MemoryAnalyzer

There are two Webinars (recorded demos):
http://live.eclipse.org/node/939
http://live.eclipse.org/node/520

And I find these blog grom Ian Bull very helpful:
